Business Phases

At some point in their development most businesses will fit into one the following phases;

Seed Phase - the business is still at conception stage and may still just be a thought or an idea in the entrepreneurs mind; funding required to achieve Proof of Concept
Pre-Production Phase - Proof of Concept achieved but now need to develop the product/service into a format appropriate to market. Funding required for R&D
Start-Up Phase - Products/services established and first customer orders received. Funding required for start-up costs, preparing to reach the market
Growth Phase - Revenues and customers are increasing with many new opportunities and issues, working capital required to sustain the growth and to expand the facilities
Established Phase - sales have plateaued and business is established, funding required to update capital assets
Expansion Phase - business looking to gain market share and to expand into new markets/sectors
Turnaround Phase - business is failing and needs finance to enable a turnaround plan to be introduced
